The Practice operates across three separate sites and it is a condition of joining the Practice that you are willing to attend the different Surgeries. If it is not possible to comply with this, we would respectfully ask patients to register with another Practice in the local area.
If we cannot provide you with an appointment time to suit you or with a Doctor of your choice, we ask you to be understanding and not to make unreasonable demands on the Reception staff.
The practice operates a fully computerised appointment system. You can make an appointment by either calling at or telephoning any of the surgeries during working hours. Please note that all telephone calls are recorded for training and security purposes.
Appointments are made at given intervals and we endeavour to keep to the appointed times. However, you will appreciate that sometimes the Doctor is called to an emergency or needs to spend more than the allocated time with one particular patient.
If for any reason you are unable to keep your appointment we would ask that you inform the surgery as soon as possible so that the appointment can be offered to another patient. A record is kept of all failed attendances and appropriate action taken to allow us to deliver a service within our resources (see DNA policy in the Patient Information section).
NEW PATIENTS
We would ask all new patients registering with the Practice to make an appointment to attend for a new patient check with one of our Health Care Assistants as soon as possible. This is to enable us to obtain details of your medical history prior to your records arriving from the Health Authority, which will help the Doctors and Nurses during consultations.
TEACHING
We are an approved training practice and Doctors wishing to specialise in General Practice are attached to the Practice for a minimum period of six months. These are capable, qualified Doctors who will happily see and treat you and are known as GP Registrars.
In addition to this, we now have Foundation Year 2 Doctors in post who, once again, are learning all about general practice.
Occasionally surgery sessions are recorded on video for training purposes. You will be given prior warning when you book the appointment. A patient's written consent is always obtained in advance of the consultation and the recording is used only for Doctor training.
Medical Students
The Partners are pleased to work closely with the University of Leeds School of Medicine. For many years the Practice has accommodated Year 4 medical students and from October 2006 also welcomed Year 5 students. The students undertake consultations with recourse to their Trainer.
